Then, to walk.<br \/>To fall and to get back up.<br \/>To run and hop and skip and jump. <br \/>And then it never crossed our minds again.<br \/>Movement became a part of life.<br \/>We did it without thinking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br \/>And somewhere in school we became more advanced;<br \/>We did sports and competed<br \/>We danced and performed.<br \/>There were springs beneath our feet,<br \/>our bodies light, our eyes bright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br \/>Our brains calculated, analyzed,<br \/>Remembered and memorized.<br \/>And somewhere in between,<br \/>Our bodies forgot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br \/>Like the batteries of the toys we no longer touched,<br \/>The springs in our feet became stiff,<br \/>The muscles in our back became rounded and hunched.<br \/>To get ahead in life?<br \/>Is that why our heads are now in front of our bodies? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br \/>I\u2019ve only started teaching Pilates for two years now,<br \/>But I\u2019ve seen so many different bodies come through<br \/>Some flexible, some tight, some strong, some weak.<br \/>Some big, some small, some old, some young. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br \/>All of the bodies I\u2019ve seen tell me the same thing:<br \/>When we were young, we learnt how to move.<br \/>We fidgeted and ran and jumped and pranced.<br \/>Who was it that told us to stop? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We learnt to flip from our backs to our stomachs and back again.
