Having a twin sister sounded like the best thing ever, a best friend I could depend on.<\/p>\n<p>My brain doesn&#8217;t hold many memories of my childhood, but one good memory I have is one of my brother bringing me to the large Borders bookstore at Wheelock and then telling me to pick one book as a Christmas\u00a0gift.<\/p>\n<p>I was spoilt for choice.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_600\" style=\"width: 129px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-600\" class=\"wp-image-600\" src=\"http:\/\/catchmyfall.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/svt-198x300.png\" alt=\"Sweet Valley Twins - Big for Christmas\" width=\"119\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/catchmyfall.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/svt-198x300.png 198w, https:\/\/catchmyfall.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/svt.png 314w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 119px) 100vw, 119px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-600\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sweet Valley Twins &#8211; Big for Christmas<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The one I finally picked was Christmas themed, to go along with the spirit of the December season.<\/p>\n<p>I must have read this about twenty times (or more).<\/p>\n<p>You might also be surprised to find out that I\u00a0<em>still<\/em> have this book with me.<\/p>\n<p>I realise now that it&#8217;s not the coolest thing to talk about,\u00a0but\u00a0I was never exposed to Roald Dahl. I think I was probably turned off by the illustration style on the Roald Dahl books, which would have been\u00a0unappealing to me as a kid.<\/p>\n<p>And as much as I&#8217;d like to think I was a bookworm, I was never the\u00a0<em>Rory Gilmore-<\/em>type who&#8217;d read Moby Dick or Pride and Prejudice.<\/p>\n<p>Trust me, I tried with Anna Karenina.<\/p>\n<p>Wheelock no longer holds a bookstore, and now, I get my books off\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/booksdepository.com\">booksdepository.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Latest novels\u00a0to arrive\u00a0are the second and third books\u00a0of <em>Miss Peregine&#8217;s Home for Peculiar Children<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I remember\u00a0being so in love with books when I was younger that I&#8217;d hide under my blanket covers to read.
